Dear Maintainer,

Debuan Beowulf has runit-init package, and it seems usable.
But the init package pre-depends only on sysvinit-core and (nonexistent) upstart,
while it does not on runit-init.

Unless runit-init is discouraged, init should also pre-depend on runit-init package.

Thanks for pointing this out.

I thought this was already fixed in version 1.56+nmu1+devuan2 (present in ceres,
chimaera and beowulf-proposed-updates). However, on checking the NMU that
addressed this has been imperfectly merged.

I am preparing to build a fixed version.

Hi Mark,
Regarding on the following issue,
/sbin/openrc-init in the openrc package
can probably used as PID 1.
I was able to use it, and removal of sysvinit-core
package did not seem to harm the system.
So "Pre-Depends" of init should be sysvinit-core | runit-init | openrc,
in my view.
