The *_InRelease files on packages.devuan.org do. I haven't checked amprolla.devuan.org or *.mirrors.devuan.org. This came to light debugging odd behaviour of `lsb_release -c` (as you can see illustrated below in the System Information where the codename is `n/a`) using deb.devuan.org (see https://lists.dyne.org/lurker/message/20180420.115057.d298af7b.en.html). Whether `lsb_release` should consult these files is a separate issue but when I switch to packages.devuan.org and run `apt-get update` the codename all of a sudden displays as `ascii`, as expected. There may be other packages that rely on the Origin: information. One that I am aware of is unattended-upgrades. Its configuration lets the user select which parts of their APT sources should be upgraded unattended. One of the specifications it supports is based on the Origin: field. Absence of the field in InRelease files will probably break that. -- System Information: Distributor ID: Devuan Description: Devuan GNU/Linux testing/unstable Release: testing/unstable Codename: n/a Architecture: x86_64 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) Hope this helps, -- Olaf Meeuwissen, LPIC-2 FSF Associate Member since 2004-01-27 GnuPG key: F84A2DD9/B3C0 2F47 EA19 64F4 9F13 F43E B8A4 A88A F84A 2DD9 Support Free Software https://my.fsf.org/donate Join the Free Software Foundation https://my.fsf.org/join From unknown Fri Mar 29 08:00:03 2024 Received: (at 199-done) by bugs.devuan.org; 2 Jun 2018 03:10:03 +0000 Return-Path: Delivered-To: devuanbugs@dyne.org Received: from tupac3.dyne.org [195.169.149.119] by fulcanelli with IMAP (fetchmail-6.3.26) for (single-drop); Sat, 02 Jun 2018 05:10:03 +0200 (CEST) Received: from mo-sw.mose-mail.jp (mo-sw1505-0.mose-mail.jp [210.130.202.8]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by vm6.ganeti.dyne.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 8741EF60849 for <199-done@bugs.devuan.org>; Sat, 2 Jun 2018 05:05:51 +0200 (CEST) Received: by mo-sw.mose-mail.jp (mose-mo-sw1505) id w5233kZY012161; Sat, 2 Jun 2018 12:03:46 +0900 Received: from quark (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by mbox.mose-mail.jp (mose-mbox1503) id w5233gkS029988 for <199-done@bugs.devuan.org>; Sat, 2 Jun 2018 12:03:43 +0900 Received: from olaf (uid 1000) (envelope-from olaf@ueda.ne.jp) id 140325 by quark (DragonFly Mail Agent v0.11); Sat, 02 Jun 2018 12:03:41 +0900 User-agent: mu4e 0.9.18; emacs 24.5.1 From: Olaf Meeuwissen To: 199-done@bugs.devuan.org Subject: mirrors: InRelease files missing Origin: field Date: Sat, 02 Jun 2018 12:03:41 +0900 Message-ID: <871sdpga9e.fsf@member.fsf.org> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain X-Spam-Status: No, score=0.0 required=5.0 tests=HEADER_FROM_DIFFERENT_DOMAINS, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_NONE,SPF_HELO_PASS,SPF_PASS,UNPARSEABLE_RELAY autolearn=disabled version=3.4.1 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.4.1 (2015-04-28) on tupac3.dyne.org This has been addressed.
