Until before the most recent update of its package, Thunderbird displayed an internally-generated hyperlink "Download the rest of the message" for such partially-downloaded messages. And when that hyperlink was clicked, the full message was downloaded, replacing the hyperlink. In the current version of the package, the hyperlink is still displayed. But clicking on it has no effect. The basic functionality for downloading the complete message must still be present, because the corresponding action in a mail filter still works. But the hyperlink itself no longer triggers its intended action. This is very unfortunate if one heavily relies on that feature in order to reduce traffic volume (especially to avoid the downloading of large spam messages) for volume-based ISP data plans. I have no idea whether the same problem exists for other types of mail accounts than POP3. I do not use IMAP. Steps for reproducing the problem. * Select "Account Settings" from the "Edit" menu of Mozilla Thunderbird. * Select a POP3-account for reproducing the bug, and go to its "Server Settings" page. * Check the "Fetch headers only" option. * Send a test message with arbitrary text in its mail body to the POP3 account for which the settings have just been edited. * Poll for new mails until the message just sent arrives. * You should not see the body contents of the mail, but just an internally-generated hyperlink "Download the rest of the message". * If you click that link, NOTHING HAPPENS. ...and that's the problem! What SHOULD be happening instead: Thunderbird should access the POP3 server, download the complete message, and replace the displayed hyperlink in the message contents pane with the body of the complete message. -- System Information: Distributor ID: Devuan Description: Devuan GNU/Linux 2.0 (ascii) Release: 2.0 Codename: ascii Architecture: i686 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-6-686 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_AT.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_AT.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) Versions of packages thunderbird depends on: ii debianutils 4.8.1.1 ii fontconfig 2.11.0-6.7+b1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.22.0-1 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u3 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.14.8-1 ii libcairo2 1.14.8-1 ii libdbus-1-3 1.10.22-1+devuan1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.108-2 ii libevent-2.0-5 2.0.21-stable-3 ii libffi6 3.2.1-6 ii libfontconfig1 2.11.0-6.7+b1 ii libfreetype6 2.6.3-3.2 ii libgcc1 1:6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.36.5-2+deb9u2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.50.3-2 ii libgtk-3-0 3.22.11-1 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.31-2 ii libjsoncpp1 1.7.4-3 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.40.5-1 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.40.5-1 ii libpangoft2-1.0-0 1.40.5-1 ii libstartup-notification0 0.12-4+b2 ii libstdc++6 6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libvpx4 1.6.1-3+deb9u1 ii libx11-6 2:1.6.4-3 ii libx11-xcb1 2:1.6.4-3 ii libxcb-shm0 1.12-1 ii libxcb1 1.12-1 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1+b2 ii libxrender1 1:0.9.10-1 ii libxt6 1:1.1.5-1 ii psmisc 22.21-2.1+b2 ii x11-utils 7.7+3+b1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-5 Versions of packages thunderbird recommends: ii hunspell-de-at [hunspell-dictionary] 20161207-1 ii hunspell-en-us [hunspell-dictionary] 20070829-7 pn lightning ii myspell-de-de [myspell-dictionary] 20161207-1 Versions of packages thunderbird suggests: pn apparmor ii fonts-lyx 2.2.2-1 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.15-1+deb9u1 -- no debconf information From unknown Thu Mar 28 21:40:48 2024 Received: (at 253) by bugs.devuan.org; 2 Jan 2019 23:00:01 +0000 Return-Path: Delivered-To: devuanbugs@dyne.org Received: from tupac3.dyne.org [195.169.149.119] by fulcanelli with IMAP (fetchmail-6.3.26) for (single-drop); Thu, 03 Jan 2019 00:00:01 +0100 (CET) Received: from mout.gmx.net (mout.gmx.net [212.227.17.21]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by vm6.ganeti.dyne.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 063D3F608E9 for <253@bugs.devuan.org>; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 23:58:46 +0100 (CET) Received: from [10.157.38.112] ([77.119.130.45]) by mail.gmx.com (mrgmx101 [212.227.17.168]) with ESMTPSA (Nemesis) id 0Mecqq-1gyaL21Ho0-00OEyA for <253@bugs.devuan.org>; Wed, 02 Jan 2019 23:58:24 +0100 To: 253@bugs.devuan.org From: Guenther Brunthaler Subject: Bug seems to have been fixed in thunderbird-1:60.4.0-1~deb9u1 Message-ID: <7725594c-5409-6780-1e24-1850f93a03c5@gmx.net> Date: Wed, 2 Jan 2019 23:58:21 +0100 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:60.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/60.4.0 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-15; format=flowed Content-Language: de-AT Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Provags-ID: V03:K1:BDLM7r7mK1zAxHvaMq9WQvYanb3GWB3gXh5Z26l/Zr07wwIoyvp MaZ1kCadVd/WwF4pbCkHKCCIYd//xB3NAJ5wDuHmo99h0yjVqQiHgs6sy/+TzT3d7EskwGv Mbr3ClD3h8bZShXIIYEN25naaJ7/hqMNTvQipbwZLwCqIhj45ADIrZkwYTall9g0cGHPeqo /KYGmeBYZsC9AKQ66Ln2w== X-UI-Out-Filterresults: notjunk:1;V03:K0:kA14LSsztjc=:QNvrH7aVDXLaQUKmY/EbiE D3mSFXvSkTgu+vumW7Jjd20zQ6eSYvJJnZPPNhWUJHJJHgpAZbK4d+slEX25JyVxUU774tkAy gvMfc1p7u1FUaY1q8Qj1ypMSMA4FpZ1uPGKPVr7TKEn5rutbg3+kSbziQ1I+pDCt3NoxsRkvB +06dignmtsQHUHJlNsLl3NZTGl0+EGCnSQTn8l2nK/Sv9W2Yn+SEpoWLucCE5Yhuxmgi1EWNU Alr82yJJFVBz1k63ALnXdE0Twdt24JMGE3FTioAzAT300t5rsXjcYYAfx79IX3Z3cAihk9gbI b6eSDjMn9euYI13v3nlb4XYbS3M7Xor/eWxjtDY1GTrDRnuJdzTr+thU2zmHWM4WeJCF/rsM4 6BJKjvps8nAOtFe2StRr+McjP4QO92LefWuxMlo6FFtY+jWT9uKFeTE1CJRzk0B7mo6NwNz7Z EFNXQGssbXXR59a/ZASk4mpv2PFLuTuSNcFUB8TW5nNGbySiaNvWJwbkqFRENUUfCzEJVwC+V umAuhVoUPaHV17rjNgFTjVORZvKb0/Zc5w9u6EViQaOh/6waFKO3PQ/y1ptUxkGSVggcPAguv 3S+HF/ogkgBGEOyPkTyM7+1kuQZv7oYe7YWM8+TvklyTAkvGEk4E3bBjaxIPnn/HN94VGTMfL zM4i2+hr0Z4S4BqJ11mUXjeYDMTpJQHFhP7JUVpaKcjSs7Y+uWzWlebLD7t+EWvpIAJTapH2B 1ZjifEELGFnpKWyS87t5xIJoRqWJ/YIVwxXzgHtJh2hx98vTOD2oBhFsLfL1lR1OVZvhFtyCx XOhrbI7HkQbNIsfXdEGBOFtZHaDDvbHYySWdcYKHyr/k3pY9DNIwf8RzgOZvDBHOCt1NFy2cN Tgyfwhay/m2PKXqiJCjpSnzxQLd/W2JL1yoc3SvBHO/q9X4PWFB1992SoBGAJRNcj2OoWOkjC b1hqPODICXw== X-Spam-Status: No, score=-0.7 required=5.0 tests=FREEMAIL_FROM, RCVD_IN_DNSWL_LOW,SPF_PASS autolearn=disabled version=3.4.2 X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 3.4.2 (2018-09-13) on tupac3.dyne.org At least the bug does no longer occur in this version.
