Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation?
Attempting to boot a kernel built with gcc-10 on amd64 platform
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
reverting to gcc-9, building kernel for i386 on gcc-10 worked
* What was the outcome of this action?
* What outcome did you expect instead?
I can supply a built package if there is an upload location that I can use.

In what way did the boot fail?
Is this Debian bug #950254[1]?

Message #15 received at 402@bugs.devuan.org (full text, mbox, reply):
Hi Mark, I think that my problem occurs at an earlier stage than the problems mentioned at https://bugs.debian.org/950254 , grub appears to attempt to pass control to the kernel boot code but nothing seems to happen after that (screen goes blank, no hard disk activity).
I am not sure if it possible to get an early remote console or any other alternatives to see what is happening.
Arthur.

Hi, by keeping grub in 640*480 mode I was able to get a screenshot of the problem which does not appear to be caused by initramfs-tools:

OK.
Closing as it isn't a Devuan issue.
