Dear Maintainers,
The lvmpolld daemon dies after 60s with the provided init script. This
is due to the daemon arg "-t 60" which makes sense for a systemd socket
but unfortunately not for sysvinit.
Removing the arg fixes the issue, see also the the manpage for reference
[1].
This was also reported to debian as Bug #989345 [2].
The latest debian testing update to 2.03.16-2 completely removed the
init scripts for lvm2. [3]
Best regards,
Valentin

Valentin,
Many thanks for this.
In terms of the specific bug, it is a shame the Debian maintainers have not
accepted your patch.
The removal of the initscripts adds further problems.
I think there are 2 options:-
1) Open a further Debian bug and ask for the initscripts to be restored as they
are still used, contrary to the changelog entry, even in Debian.
2) Fork the package in Devuan.
Whilst the second may seem the attractive choice, src:lvm2 has many open bugs in
Debian (120 or so) and we would inherit those. Also, I don't really use the
package.

I agree with you, if possible a fix in the Debian package would be the
preferred solution.
I opened a new Debian bug #1026443 [1] for the issue.

I don't hope that debian will do any to fix that high severity bug.
Debian starts to refuse any bug that is not in there strange view of
world. They even start to aggressively insult people reporting bugs seen
in a inherited distribution like Devuan.
Regards
Klaus
