The first (and the second, read on) were (from memory) July 1, 2023. The
Dell is set to legacy (BIOS) booting. That DVD would boot, told me it would
load, but would not transfer control out of the initial menu (load, load,
load, diagnostics).

I put the iso into a USB stick (the only fresh one was 128GB) and that ran
- but one time. out of several, I encountered the same symptoms using the
USB SSD (one time only) and when I tried rebooting, the USB stick was not
recognized, until I shut down for a cold boot.

I put the July 8 2023 daedalus live installer onto a DVD, moved over the
fastest computer in my stable (AMD 12-core, 64GB RAM) and it ran just fine.
At least, it automatically loaded and started Linux and on to the desktop.

I think there is a condition where if the arrow keys are depressed while
the kernel or userland are being loaded, the initial boot menu will not
transfer execution even if 'Enter' is pressed.

However, earlier in the correspondence there was an intuitive musing that
the USB connection might be flaky and that could very well be the problem.

I will keep testing the live ISO, from time to time, to see if I can narrow
down how to invoke this bug.
